WINDSONG ART STUDIO
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
The Midwest has always held a special place in my heart. I grew up in Illinois and have spent most of my adult life in and around neighboring states. The last 20 years have been in Minnesota, and retirement finds me in South Dakota at our home Windsong Stables, the home of Windsong Art Studio.
The focus of my life beginning in childhood has always been Horses, Dogs and pretty much any other snuggly critter. Not always the easiest passion to fill when you live in a northwest suburb of Chicago in a subdivision with parents who wanted one dog. Great goals are worth working for! Instead of babysitting, I walked dogs after school. Instead of sports or clubs, I would visit horse farms and clean stalls in exchange for learning to ride and any other horse activity. When High School was completed I began teaching English Equitation at a local stable, and this would later transition into Showing and Breeding dogs and eventually circle right back into horses. This time with carriage horses.
Our kennel, Heidachs Dachshunds has kept me very busy for the last 30 years. For a decade it also included owning and managing our business, Windsong Boarding kennel, located in Crystal Lake, Illinois
I have always enjoyed art. As a child I would doodle constantly in the margins of school papers and while taking notes. My formal art education consists of a handful of classes in drawing and painting and workshops, clinics, and demonstrations by watercolor and acrylic professionals. I am a fan of videos and how to books which afford learning on my time.
My vision for Windsong Art Studio is to share as much joy and knowledge with others as possible. Whether you are interested in learning to paint or if you are interested in a commissioned painting of you favorite furry friend, my goal is to supply a path to achieve that. Please visit the Acrylic and Watercolor pages which contain samples of my work.
I wish you good fortune on your journey pursuing your passions!
Happy Trails,
Alyce Gilbertsen
